Getting here

The Centre is half way along the Royal Mile, downhill from the Castle and North Bridge. The Centre is a short walk from Waverley train station and Prince's Street, and there is a taxi rank close to the Centre on the Royal Mile. There is pay-and-display parking on Jeffrey Street and Canongate and a multi-storey car park at St John's Hill. Visitors may drop off only on the High Street outside the Centre.

Accessibility

The Scottish Storytelling Centre is accessible to wheelchair users, excluding the upper floors of John Knox House, which can be viewed through an interactive virtual tour. Audio loops are provided in performance areas and there is Braille signage throughout. If you are a wheelchair user, please notify the theatre box office on booking whenever possible, and let us know if you need a hand once you're here.

Stroll in the Literary Quarter

The Scottish Storytelling Centre is Edinburgh's literary gateway. Visit Scottish Book Trust's secret garden at Sandeman House, and experience the historic closes of the Netherbow. Go up the Mile to the Writer's Museum and the National and Central libraries, or down the hill to the Scottish Poetry Library and Canongate Kirk, burial place of Adam Smith, Robert Fergusson and Burns' Clarinda.
