Tell a Story Day

Tell-a-Story Day is a national celebration of storytelling, and the perfect opportunity to hold your own storytelling event or tell your own stories, whether they’re wee tales or enormous epics! Be part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival and experience the magic of storytelling.

If you’d like to get involved in Tell-a-Story Day in October 2009, please contact Caroline Budge at caroline@scottishstorytellingcentre.com or on +44 (0) 131 652 3272 for more information.

Tell-a-Story Day 2008

Tell-a-Story Day 2008 fell on Hallowe'en, the old Celtic New Year when the year turns from light to dark. Like Hallowe'en, storytelling is for everyone, old and young, and both together – a great opportunity to take advantage of the witching month of October to explore the spooky stories of the season. Or brighten up an autumn afternoon with some favourite stories of summer!

Tell-A-Story-Day is a wonderful way to celebrate our storytelling heritage in a fun way. All over Scotland on 31st October, people told stories in schools, libraries, community centres, churches, homes, gardens...as well as some more unusual venues!

Here's what participants have told us:

"The event helped to build up links with playgroup and young attendees"

"It's a great day, a chance to explore stories"

"Another enjoyable Tell A Story Day"

"It was just pure dead brilliant!"

"Being part of Tell A Story Day encouraged me to introduce the storytelling element to the annual Halloween party - and the kids really enjoyed it!"

Happy Tell-a-Story Day!
