Welcome to the Old Town Festival 2010!
Monday 14 - Sunday 27 June
For two weeks, Edinburgh’s Old Town is bursting at the seams with events. This is your opportunity to delve into Old Town buildings, try your hand at a new activity or find out more about the area’s characters – old and new!
Take a look at our programme and see the range of events that are on offer. There is something for everyone – from films and walking tours, to craft days, music, exhibitions and storytelling.
Many events are free, but some require tickets – so remember to book these in advance to ensure that you don’t miss out!
The Festival aims to
• Be an inclusive celebration of people and place in and of Edinburgh’s Old Town – a unique area layered with stories
• Showcase and develop the high quality arts, cultural and heritage activity taking place in the Old Town. The Old Town is a cultural treasure-trove for both residents and visitors to the city
• Be an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to explore or rediscover the Old Town and its stories for themselves
• Provide an opportunity to promote and highlight the Old Town as part of the Edinburgh World Heritage Site, to residents and visitors
• Create an opportunity for Old Town community groups and larger cultural organisations to work together on a common project, on an equal basis
The Festival is coordinated by the Scottish Storytelling Centre with programme and publicity support from Edinburgh World Heritage, as well as input from a host of Old Town venues and organisations.
